If so, I think I'm a teeny bit in love with this one. I found it languishing on the floor in a corner of an antique junk shop in the pretty town of Westerham. It must have been waiting for little me to come along and rescue it I've always admired these beautiful old Singers from afar so I'm super chuffed that I now have my own. It looks like it could work, with a bit of tlc, but I think I'm going to need some help learning how to use it. The shuttle alone has me confounded, so any help or advice gratefully received!

What a beautiful machine!
I just found a Necchi for 15 euros. At first it didn't work properly, but I managed to fix it thanks to the Necchi sewing circle on Yahoo (without any prior sewing or mechanics knowledge whatsoever). Maybe you could join a Singer sewing circle?
I love vintage sewing machines. They look so much prettier AND sturdier than those new plastic ones! I love to rescue good stuff from the dumpster.

Yes, you definitely can!
I am so enamoured of your genius vintage/thrifting skills, you know? It's an utterly beautiful thing and looks just about identical to the one I learned on (already vintage back then - am not that freakishly ancient). Not sure if I can remember how to thread it, but you *know* I'm up for coming and giving it a shot SOON. Purely altruistic, nothing at all to do with wanting to stroke it and play with it and wish I could steal it away...!
