Usually I stick to one photo to sum up my weekend in each weekly blog post, but not this time! I had a splendid day out in London with my friend, Lottie, and I took so many pics I have to share a few here. (Although we behaved in a v tourist-like fashion I feel the need to point out that because I lived in London for a decade I will never allow anyone to call me a tourist, even if I don't live there any more!)
The V&A with an incredible upside down traffic cone installation outside the front door, it was created by the Heatherwick studio who designed the Olympic cauldron
So, we visited the Victoria & Albert Museum, taking in the jewellery and photographic exhibitions and browsing for a long time in the shop. Then after a bite to eat we wandered into Hyde Park in the glorious sunshine, admired the Prince Albert Memorial, strolled along the Serpentine and snapped pics of anything that caught our eyes.
Gazing at art and craftsmanship in the V&A had an interesting effect, I started to really look in detail at everything around me. I can be guilty of charging through life at high speed, not always stopping to notice my surroundings, but on Saturday I really started to pay attention. I noticed pretty shadows on the ground, interesting architectural details and quirky sights that on an average day I would have breezed by.

We noticed a ship attached to the front of this building, a plaque on the wall told us it's the consulate of Swaziland!
Doing something a little bit different to the norm and chatting for hours in the sunshine was just lovely and it didn't cost us a penny! A day of culture, nature, sunshine and time spent with a great friend, glorious.
